Description

In the presentation I analyze the relationship between CO2 mitigation policy and promotion policies designed to deploy renewable energy sources for electricity production (RES-E). I discuss feed-in tariffs, premium policies and green tradable certificates under certainty and uncertainty. I show that under certainty budget balanced feed-in tariffs (FITs), budget balanced premium systems and GTCs are equivalent, while under uncertainty they are not. I also discuss differentiated, technology-specific FITs showing they are not efficient. I also discuss further alleged co-benefits of support of renewable energy.
